I believe this tale to be true and so I am telling it. Read along and see if you don't believe it's true. No, this is a tale, a really epic tale of courage and sacrifice, of freedom and love. It's not magic, it's what happens when people and creatures are good and kind and do what is required of them to be their best. Now, follow me to a time long ago and a place far away. You may even identify or see yourself in one of these people or creatures don't worry, I'm not writing about you. A tale is not untrue just because it has never before been told; just as a story is not true just because it has been told over and over again, even down through the generations. They existed so very long ago and some still do.
A tale isn't true or untrue until you have lived it yourself. There is no magic, no wizards or witches because they are make-believe. You may recognize the places and peoples; you may not. If I was, I would have asked you first for your permission. You may believe it or not believe it there are no pixies or fairies or elves in this tale for those are fantasy creatures. Follow three very brave, loyal and strong young ladies as they find what's important to them and why, maybe, it needs to be important to us all.

Even now on my umpteenth reread, I still find myself crying at the start of the fourth book (and trust me you will too) and hating Mary Ann by the end of the sixth book (hard to believe but she is one vicious woman). Consider the following excerpt from the back of the book: "Jesus Among Other Gods provides the answers to the most fundamental claims about Christianity such as: Aren't all religions fundamentally the same? Was Jesus who He claimed to be? Can one study the life of Christ and demonstrate conclusively that He was and is the way, the truth, and the life? In each chapter, Zacharias considers a unique claim that Jesus made and the contrasts the truth of Jesus with the founder
